Diet: Day 1

So far so good, managed to get through an entire day without cheating. Had a Lemon Chicken Stir Fry for supper on a bed of rice (simultaneously breaking in my new wok and rice cooker). I modified the recipe by using olive oil instead of peanut oil and I didn't slice my chicken nearly as finely as the recipe called for. It was quite tasty, but next time I think I'll throw some onions or peppers in it.

The first setback of the diet plan occurred when I tried to weigh myself. The scale I bought maxes out at 300 pounds and apparently I've gotten fatter than that. So weight loss goal number one is to not have the scale read "ERROR" when I stand on it.

Anyone have some good reasonably healthy recipes to share that don't involve fish?

Does anyone have any recipes? What kind of a question is that? OF COURSE I have recipes. Idiot. I'll cull the best, and send them on.

All of my recipes are meatless, but healthy. I'll find you some good ones if you don't mind not eating dead things now and again.
And if you're at all interested (stupid question, I know), the Yves veggie products typically only contain about 0.1g of fat in the whole package.
I've also been trying to have a Protein shake for breakfast (frozen berries, OJ, yoghurt and hemp protein powder) and I've been feeling much better and I find that I don't feel hungry longer.
Yes, yes, hippy, weirdo, hippy, hippy, veg, hippy... I know.

Crazy: That would be much appreciated.

Gwen: I'd give the odd meatless dish a try if the recipe looked tasty. That protein shake doesn't sound like such a bad idea, where is that protein powder from? Health food store?

Cam: Good to see you are alive, give me a call sometime, my work schedule is the same as it's been forever. I was contemplating taking martial arts lessons again, wanted to take Krav Maga but the beginner class is on Mondays. Have to find something that fits around the work schedule. I liked Superman Returns. Also though Pirates of the Caribbean was pretty good.

Try this website: http://www.dwlz.com/. It's kinda cheesy and everything is in weight watcher's points. All you would basically need to know is that the lower the points, the better. Overall any recipe on there is going to be pretty good. Also, she has a lot of restaurants on there and the info about their food-kinda helpful if you want to know what the healthier options are on their menu. If you are interested in going to weight watcher's meetings I am thinking of joining again...

I'll check that website out.

I am absolutely not interested in joining any cults, thanks :P

Not a cult! And it works very well!

That was just crazy old Jason talking. I think of any self help group as a cult.

The Hemp protein powder I got at Old Fashioned foods. It's called Living Harvest Hemp Protein (origonal flavour), it's in a green can (Hippies like green things). I like the hemp stuff because of the high protein (obviously) but it also has omega 3, which is really super good for you.
Okay, so I also go it because it doesn't contain any dead things.
I can give you some decent recipes, but if that doesn't appeal - Yves "Just Like Ground" can be used in place of any ground beef in a recipe... it's not exactly the same as beef (obviously) but it's really pretty good. (I like Mac & chili with JLG and I use it in "hamburger" & rice. Naiomi is going to make some lasagna with it as well, I'll let you know how that goes.)

Also, with Yves, if you're putting it in chili, or spaghetti sauce, you really can't tell it isn't beef. I make chili with two tins of mixed beans, two tins of tomato paste, water, Tex-Mex seasoning and one package of veggie ground round. Even my most meat-demanding supper guest didn't have a clue that it wasn't beef.
